5th Grade Guess the Gibberish Back to School

This game is so fun! It is a guess the gibberish game where students have to decode the phrase to determine the meaning! It is 5 phrases for them to decode. This would be fun to do the first week of school as a team building activity.

I have been teaching 4 years now. I taught 2 years as a 4th grade teacher and this is my second year teaching 5th grade. I graduated in 2019 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte!

Teaching style

My school is transitioning into a STEM school this year which I am SO excited about because I love hands-on learning. I love to encourage student collaboration and exploration.

Additional biographical information

My store name “MrsPowellPals” was actually inspired by my students…on accident. My first year teaching, I told them all my name was Mrs. Powell when doing introductions. Fast forward to halfway through the school year, one afternoon they asked to draw on the whiteboard. I agreed and they wrote “Mrs. Pal” in one of their notes to me. I thought it was a joke but turns out they thought my name was Pal all along! Hence the store name :)
