I am currently in my 9th year teaching at a small rural school in Iowa. I teach both business and some of the family and consumer science courses here.
Students will do a 4 part project research other cultures/countries fashion. They do a presentation, a summary report, a history paragraph, and draw/color traditional dress for their culture/country There are 4 different grading rubrics for the 4 parts to the project **Some of the presentation requirements might have to be adjusted based on the culture/country your student researches**
This is an activity I have had my students do after we have used Google Drawing a few times. Students will create an interactive poster linking websites to their favorites. This is a one day activity. I personally use for my 9th-12th grade Digital Applications class, could be used in middle school too.
A fun twist on a way to look at media or present something. Students create an obituary about a technology item that has "passed away" Rubric Included. I spend 1 class period with my students for this.
This is the secret Santa handout I have used at my school for the last few years. It seems to be a good outline of ideas of gifts for the Santa to purchase for their Elf. How we do it at our school: The last 4 days before break are when gifts are handed out. The last day before break we do a staff breakfast with just those who participate (they volunteer for things to bring) and then we reveal who we had by giving our last gift to them.
