This lab is a great introduction into Ancient Astronomy, as well as a hands-on math lesson that gets students moving and thinking. Students will do the measurements and calculation to figure out what the circumference of the Earth is. This lab takes about an hour, but some pre-teaching prior to the lesson would help students gain more understanding from the activity. The only materials you will need is a meter stick (or something similar), a protractor, and a piece of string.

Reading a nutrition label: a lifetime skill that all students should understand. This product will give students a hands-on approach for reading and understanding nutrition labels. Students or teachers can bring in their own food labels from home, or print some off. They complete the activity using a food label they've chosen and determine whether it is healthy enough to belong in the school's vending machine.
