I believe it is important to teach the why before the how, and to differentiate and personalize learning based on individual student needs as each student learns differently. As a teacher, the students' learning is my responsibility and it's my job to find ways to teach that work for every student, not just the majority. Therefore, I like to make connections and build relationships with my students to get to know them, as well as plan my lessons with Gardner's Multiple Intelligences in mind. I believe student freedom and choice plays a big part in how they learn too. When students have the authority and power to think for themselves, and ask questions, their knowledge goes beyond facts and connects to their lives which leads to life-long knowledge retention. Learning is fun, let's explore together!
