This document was created for a class of L1.5-L2 high school ELLs. It reviews the basics of mapping such as scale, cardinal directions, and the importance of a map key.
I found that it was best to model the more difficult directions, but that for the most part with proper scaffolding, this activity is fantastic!

Periodic Families PowerPoint Project Files
All the files necessary to run the Periodic Families Project. Included are samples of completed powerpoint presentations and blank "template" presentations for students to use to craft their presentation. Also PDFs of both the project sheet and the rubric are included, as well as all of their components in a modify-able format because no two teachers run a project the exact same way. Tips and tricks are included as "ReadMe.txt". I've had lots of success with this project. Enjoy!

Star, This is Your Life
A webquest/project for students to complete in which they learn about, and then teach each other about, stellar evolution. The evolution of high mass, low mass, and medium mass stars are explored. Presentation templates and a presentation containing already-vetted links are included. Editable project sheets are also included. I have further included notes to the teacher about how I run this project.

Teaching style
I run a very student-centered (or is the jargon subject-centered?) classroom which is at times a thorn in the side of my administration who would prefer to see a "sage on the stage". I teach in questions, rather than answers, to guide the students to find where, without asking the teacher blatantly, they might encounter the answers they seek. This comes from my college-teaching experience where students are expected to learn from the book and use class-lecture as the reinforcer. Why not prepare the students to have a success experience in college?
My own education history
I became a licensed teacher through my graduate work. As stated previously, my undergraduate degree is straight-science.
