About the store
My background and undergraduate degree is in chemistry. I started my teaching with college-level chemistry and have extensive experience tutoring students in chemistry at any level. I am licensed to teach all sciences and so I dabble in all of them from time to time, but always return to my first love: chemistry. I'm constantly searching for new ways to teach the difficult concepts.

Periodic Families PowerPoint Project

Created by
Ms. L
The assignment sheet for students to, as a group, complete a powerpoint project on a selected family from the Periodic Table of the Elements. I have had nothing but success with this project and the students find it more entertaining than "sit and get" from me, when it comes to these families.

About the store

Experience

My background and undergraduate degree is in chemistry. I started my teaching with college-level chemistry and have extensive experience tutoring students in chemistry at any level. I am licensed to teach all sciences and so I dabble in all of them from time to time, but always return to my first love: chemistry. I'm constantly searching for new ways to teach the difficult concepts.

Teaching style

I run a very student-centered (or is the jargon subject-centered?) classroom which is at times a thorn in the side of my administration who would prefer to see a "sage on the stage". I teach in questions, rather than answers, to guide the students to find where, without asking the teacher blatantly, they might encounter the answers they seek. This comes from my college-teaching experience where students are expected to learn from the book and use class-lecture as the reinforcer. Why not prepare the students to have a success experience in college?

My own education history

I became a licensed teacher through my graduate work. As stated previously, my undergraduate degree is straight-science.
