Genre Scavenger Hunt
Get your students out of their seats and discussing genres! This Scavenger Hunt sends students on a journey to analyze passages and videos and categorize them based on their knowledge of genre characteristics. With this activity, students can work independently or with a partner to walk through each of the 10 station cards. They will read the passage or scan the QR code to watch a video. With their partner, they will need to discuss what genre best describes the story being told on that card.

Author's Purpose & Craft Slides with INB Notes Page
These slides and the included INB notes page are a great way to introduce or review Author's Purpose and Author's Craft! Notes and slides are easy for both teachers and students to navigate. Have students fill in the notes as you teach, then fold their notes page in half and glue them into their INB. Pair this lesson with a short story (I find mine on commonlit.com) and have students annotate for elements of Author's Purpose and Author's Craft. This practice is a great way for students to apply

Experience

Teaching style
Learning happens in an environment where students feel seen, safe, and loved! I believe that this comes from knowing students personally, laughing together, messing up together, and learning together. I have used a lot of my personal experiences as a student to craft the way I teach and relate to my students.
My own education history
I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017 with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in History.
