About the store
I'm a 2nd grade teacher of 5 years, going on 6! I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. I am proud to have served at the same school since I began my career. Our student population is incredibly diverse, which is amazing, yet challenging because as we know, it's our job to reach each and every child, not just in our own classroom, but all the students we interact with each and every day. I have taught ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies but my greatest strength is ELA. I am Reading Endorsed so in addition to General Education I teach intervention groups every year as well. With each passing year I grow and learn and become more and more passionate about this amazing career!

Text Features Quiz-Baby Bears Unit 2 Week 1 Wonders 2020

Text features quiz identifying photographs, captions, and diagrams. This short quiz was created using the text, "Baby Bears", from McGraw Hill Wonders Unit 2 Week 1. This is great to use as a quick check for student understanding when identifying text features. Be sure to DOWNLOAD and open in Word, otherwise the formatting will not be right.

"Many Ways to Enjoy Music" Lesson (Central Idea/Relevant Details)-Wonders 2020

PowerPoint lesson covering central idea and relevant details for the text, "Many Ways to Enjoy Music." It also includes text features. This lesson is derived from the McGraw Hill Wonders 2020 edition (UNIT 5 week 3). I suggest using it in conjunction with a graphic organizer for central idea and relevant details. Students can fill in the graphic organizer as you go through the lesson.

Teaching style

Differentiation, differentiation, differentiation! As I've touched on in my experience, my school has an incredibly diverse student population with many different needs academically, emotionally, and socially. I keep my classroom as engaging as possible by using Kagan strategies and my own fun flair. Classroom management is always a struggle, but I focus on positive reinforcement and social emotional learning along with appropriate consequences. I utilize fun break breaks because, let's be honest, we all need a break sometimes! Above all else, I don't force anything. I'm flexible and make changes when something just isn't working. Every day is a learning experience, not just for the students, but for myself as well!
