Experience

With 19 years of dedicated experience in teaching special education, I have had the privilege of working with students of varying levels, including those who are non-verbal and significantly disabled. My career has spanned across multiple educational levels, from developing preschool programs to teaching in middle and elementary schools. This diverse background has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within special education, allowing me to create inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students.

Teaching style

My teaching style has varied over the years. I use a variety of teaching styles to address the diverse needs of my students, including direct instruction for clear and structured learning, differentiated instruction to tailor lessons, and multisensory instruction to engage multiple senses. I also employ collaborative learning to foster social skills, scaffolding to support skill acquisition, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to encourage positive behavior. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) ensures accessibility for all students, while assistive technology enhances learning and communication. Additionally, project-based learning provides hands-on, meaningful experiences, and functional and life skills instruction prepares students for independence.
