Teaching online can be so difficult and something I miss about the physical classroom is the ease that comes with building relationships. Creating mood check-ins at the beginning of each class to assess how students are feeling can make students feel cared for and allow you to see how each student is doing individually. I made these pop-culture inspired mood scales for the upcoming semester since we will still be doing online learning (FYI, I teach High School but I'm sure you could use this wi

This activity is used as part of my thematic Immigration Unit in 11th grade US History. I adapted an in-person stations activity to be a virtual stations activity/field trip. In this unit, the EQ is "What is the immigrant experience in America?". This slide deck is hyperlinked to allow students to easily navigate to each station. The main task of this activity is to provide different experiences at three major ports of entry in US Immigration History: Ellis Island, Angel Island and the US-Mexico
I created this lesson as part of my Immigration Unit in US History. It just so happened that I was teaching this unit during Black History Month and I decided to create this lesson about the Black Immigration experience, a topic that is often overlooked or not mentioned when learning about Immigration in the US This lesson has four main parts 1. Prior Knowledge Check: A True/False poll with facts/statistics about immigration in the US in which students can respond using Poll in Zoom 2. Video:
This lesson highlights the difference between the US propaganda that was promoted during WWII about Japanese Incarceration and first hand narratives/experiences of Japanese Americans who suffered through illegal and unconstitutional incarceration. Included in the Slide Deck are warm ups, prior knowledge check, discussion starters and videos related to the topic. The main portion of the lesson is a Visual Gallery Walk with graphic organizer included.
Perfect way to welcome students back and re-introduce each other. Have students complete this 2022 Bingo (with versions in English and Spanish) to learn what their classmates accomplished in 2022 as a way to welcome them back for 2023!
Lesson that integrates Common Core third grade math standard with English Language third grade standard. Aim is to target the language demands of this math lesson and help English language learners in a bilingual classroom.
