About the store

Experience

In 4 years of teaching, I have taught 6th grade Science, 7th Grade Science, and 9th Grade Computer Science (Code.org). All of my teaching experience has been in San Antonio, Texas. I have also taught 4th grade Math and secondary Writing in summer school. When I was in college, I tutored high schoolers in SAT prep for both Verbal and Math.

Teaching style

My teaching style aimed to strike a balance between learning and love. I struggled with, but also worked towards, building strong relationships with students. I aimed to incorporate culturally responsive teaching and to better understand my own identity while recognizing theirs so that I may shape my teaching in a way that will best serve them. As any teacher will say, teaching is not an easy journey, but it is one that has taught me many valuable lessons in education and human connection.

My own education history

I grew up with two younger siblings and my father was and still is a teacher of now 21 years. We lived in New Jersey where I attended the Science Academy at my local high school, took 7 AP classes and ranked 13th in my class. For college, I graduated from Boston University with a major in Sociology while minoring in Biology and Public Health. My passion for serving others led me to teaching, although I have always been a teacher at heart.

Additional biographical information

While I am no longer in the classroom, I have stayed in the education realm, working in teacher mentoring programs.
