About the store
I began my teaching career right out of my graduate school art education program at SUNY Oswego. I found myself accepting a job within the Syracuse City School District in Syracuse, NY. This position was a split position teaching art to students in an alternative education setting. I have worked with students with Emotional Disturbance, Autism, Special Education and various needs. I have worked for almost 2 years in this position. I have settled into my new home at Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School and am looking forward to creating each and every day of this new school year.

About the store

Experience

I began my teaching career right out of my graduate school art education program at SUNY Oswego. I found myself accepting a job within the Syracuse City School District in Syracuse, NY. This position was a split position teaching art to students in an alternative education setting. I have worked with students with Emotional Disturbance, Autism, Special Education and various needs. I have worked for almost 2 years in this position. I have settled into my new home at Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School and am looking forward to creating each and every day of this new school year.

Teaching style

I am a strong believer in allowing students to find their own. In saying that I don't mean that I leave students to struggle, but rather if a student begins to leave the learning path on a new adventure, I try to encourage that student to develop themselves, their art and their own ideas. I find that I embrace flexibility. I allow my students to use the art room and access materials in ways that best fits their learning style and personality. Students within my room use flexible seating, visual directions, and personal accountability.

My own education history

I graduated from a small rural high school in Central New York. I then went on to get my Bachelor of Fine Arts from SUNY Oswego with a concentration in Ceramics. I graduated in 2015 and immediately began my Masters of Art Education(42hr) (K-12). I completed my masters in December of 2016. In February of 2017 I began my teaching career.
