Use this simple lab to help introduce and explore the scientific method, the law of conservation of mass, or even the law of conservation of energy. This lab is student-led and also includes a section that they will need to research and investigate what happened in their lab. The investigation portion is meant to help students find the explanation for their results on their own with minmal help from the teacher.

This is a good introductory activity for high school, or even middle school. It can be used to get students familiar with glassware and different types of measurements with basic materials like water and sand that is easily accessible and reusable!
