I have been a high school math teacher for over 20 years. Currently, I am teaching AP statistics, Introduction to Statistics and AP Computer Science Principles.
This lesson is about how to choose which measure of center is best - Mean, Median, or Mode. I use this lesson in my Introduction to Statistics high school course. The guided lesson shows examples with skewed data and without. There is a practice (homework) assignment with 6 questions. An answer key to the entire lesson is provided as well.
This assignment has students working on completing and reading two way tables and Venn diagrams in order to find probabilities. I have used this as a graded assignment and most recently gave it as partner assessment in Google Meet breakout rooms. There are two multi-part questions involving two-way tables and one with Venn diagrams.
This lesson provides notes as well as a note taking guide and exercise for students. There is also a class activity meant to get students thinking about how we graph different types of data. Students usually have no trouble with the categorical data, but sometimes get stumped as to how to graph the numerical data. With a little motivation, they can usually come up with a dot plot or stem and leaf plot if they are familiar with that type of graph. This is a fun activity for students as they are g
These files provide students with a review of the Normal Distribution, 68-95-99.7 rule, z scores, finding area under normal curves and finding values when the area is known. The first two handouts are summaries of the topics with examples and notes. There are two practice worksheets for students and answer keys. All worksheets have a magical theme of wizards and unicorns just for fun!
This is a worksheet created for students to practice identifying exponential growth and decay functions, writing and solving models and graphing exponential growth functions. It has a Halloween theme and is perfect to give around the holiday. I usually use this as a sub plan if necessary in October.
This is an activity that I did with my Geometry students to practice working with protractors. It is a cute activity, and students felt comfortable using a protractor at the end. The activity took approximately 30 minutes.
This is a 10 question Google Form assignment on the Midpoint Formula. I have this set to collect email addresses since it is assigned via Google Classroom, but you can change that setting and add a name question if needed. Thanks for looking and check out my Geometry Digital Notebook
This is a short warm up quiz that I give students in an Introduction to Statistics course. The quiz is made up of questions related to mutually exclusive events, probability from a table, and using the addition rule.
