About the store
Hello! My name is Cassandra Foster. I am from the great state of OH-IO. I graduated in spring 2019 from Wright State University with a Bachelors in Middle Childhood Education. My concentrations are language arts and social studies. I believe the most challenging thing in school for myself has been discipline and balance. I still struggle with those areas as an educator, but I have been working to improve them. I teach my students the importance of those skills every day, and I know the importance of “practice what you preach.” Immediately following graduation from WSU, I was offered my first teaching position where I taught 7th and 8th grade language arts for two years followed by grades 5th and 6th for two years. I later transitioned to another local charter school in my city where I have been teaching 6th grade ELA only for the past 2 years. I am currently entering my 7th year teaching English to grade 6. During my 6th year teaching, I decided to further my education by enrolling into Grand Canyon University for my master's to obtain licensure in my state. I am grateful to say that I graduated with my FIRST masters this past May from GCU! My ultimate dream is to open my own school from the ground up and offer a fresh new learning experience for students in the very neighborhood that I grew up in. I believe we hear so much about the Ron Clark Academy or the private schools across the nation, but I want to give back to my own community in a different way, and what better way than in education! Although teaching was not my first go-to career, I have always had a passion for education. My goal is to make every child fall in love with learning when they step into my classroom- no matter the subject or grade that I teach. I want to communicate high expectations, growth mindsets, and impossible possibilities. I love the idea of an online platform and being able to take one class at a time. I am excited to gain all types of information from my classes. My purpose for attending GCU is to receive that extra component in my professional career that I know will open greater doors for myself and bring an added value that is well deserved as an educator. I look forward to being able to take that knowledge and use it in my classroom and share it with other fellow educators!

Teaching style

I strongly believe that learning should be fun and engaging. With both, you can inspire the most reluctant learner. My goal is to provide different tools that will bring engagement to the classroom and eventually to the entire building. Education is ever evolving and so should our approaches, so I want to offer resources that will do just that. Sometimes we need a different approach to reach all learners, and I hope my tools will do that for you!

Additional biographical information

I am a movie fanatic! Please don't ask how many times I go to the movies! Too many times to count. I enjoy trying out new recipes, traveling, self-care, and buying new things. But most of all, I love learning new ways to become a better teacher.
