Math Task Cards: Sledding Into Story Problems

The math task cards can be used in a variety of ways. You can place them on student desks to play the traditional “Scoot” game, tack them up around your room for a math scavenger hunt, or pair them with a board game (Candyland works well) in a math center. I print my game cards with multiple pages per sheet to reduce the card size, but you can also use the full-sized pages to project for whole-class activities. I’ve included: -36 math task cards using addition, subtraction, and multiplication

I use these pizza fraction cards for reviewing fractions and mixed numbers with my third graders. Includes: -15 task cards and recording sheet for games like scoot, centers, or scavenger hunts -3 sets of matching cards (numerical eighths, word/written eighths, and mixed numbers from 1-2 in eighths) The cards were designed with one card on each page. This allows you to print large cards for whole-class games or print multiple pages per sheet to create smaller cards for center work.

They also work great for centers! I’ve included: -7 writing prompts for your writing center in both color and black/white This freebie is part of my larger Winter Wonderland Unit for Big Kids. About the store

Experience

I create time-saving teacher tools and supplemental resources that help busy teachers plan and prep with ease. 👏🏻I've taught 2nd-4th grades, but third grade will always have my heart.

Teaching style

I prefer a guided reading and writing approach to literacy instruction, combined with individualized word study and differentiated centers. I also use interactive lessons and centers in math workshop. I truly believe that students learn best when they are actively involved in their learning and we set lots of goals in our room to keep everyone moving forward. It's a good day when we learn from each other!

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of my students campaigned for me to be president. I kept the picture he made of me in the White House as proof. That's a pretty big honor. ;)

My own education history

I am a proud 2004 summa cum laude graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I majored in elementary education and minored in counseling psychology. Since then, I've completed my master's degree and earned my All-Grades Reading Specialist License through Ball State as well.
