Currently, I am a 3/4 multi-age teacher. I teach to the higher grade with appropriate differentiation. The philosophy is that students who join me in 3rd grade will have two years to master 4th grade standards.

Great step-by-step tool to facilitate close reading! Enlarge and print for reading focus wall and/or provide students with a copy so they can anticipate what is coming.
Students compare the living and nonliving factors of two ecosystems - desert and tropical rainforest. Students can use provided texts and/or research to complete the chart. By comparing these side-by-side, students begin to understand the interaction of factors within an ecosystem. The PDF is intended to be printed on legal size paper, but letter size will work too.
Using this reading log, students respond to short writing prompts throughout the week. It keeps students accountable to their required reading while avoiding a simple retell/summary. Also can be used to facilitate discussion in class!
Algorithms with fractions can be tricky! Use the "Fractions Survival Kit" to soothe the confusion. It covers part of a number, finding equivalent fractions, adding/subtracting fractions, comparing/ordering fractions, and converting a mixed number to an improper fraction. Print and use the pages that apply to your grade level.
Students practice writing numbers in three forms - standard form, expanded form, & word form. The form is blank so that you can customize it (smaller or larger values depending on your grade level). I usually fill in one of the forms for the first four, and leave the last one blank for a "You Choose."
Use this rubric/checklist to guide students through a 5-paragraph narrative assignment. Students can self-monitor their writing by checking off included items.
