This is a pdf of quick notes and short practice page used with my Math Lab (Algebra 1 Intervention) class to learn a new, and visual, way to solve equations. Most of my students are SPED and they really liked this new technique. I've uploaded this resource and its .doc counterpart to my website msq-mathiscool.weebly.com if you wanted to word document version to edit. Shoutout to @Crisstie Crim (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Crisstie-Crim) for sharing the knowledge of this new way to
This is a BreakoutEDU activity that uses four locked boxes to lead students through the many various ways to solve an equation. Students will begin with Problem 1 and find a solution that leads them to unlock the first box. Inside this first box, place the Problem 2 for each team. Repeat until all of the problems are finished and students officially "break-out!".
Students will be led around a series of 12 questions that check their ability to find slope in various representations (points, tables, graphs, verbal description) as well as create equations of lines in point-slope form. Many of the questions can be answered by MATCHING the equation to a picture/table/etc. Great for STAAR Prep or any
These QQT cards will help students understand small pieces of using the box to complete polynomial division problems. There are small explanations/coaching tips for students to use to help their peers answer the questions. Hope you enjoy!
Quiz Quiz Trade cards to use for a stand up class activity. Each card has a question and an answer that should be printed on the back. Additionally, most of the cards have Coaching Tips (in kid-friendly language) that the students can use to help their peers answer the questions. Some of these QQT cards are lower level. I used them as a quick review/warm-up before our Chapter 6 test. These are also my first time making QQT cards for my class so please give me grace for errors.
Use this activity to introduce the concepts of systems of equations. Students will solve for the value of a shape (as if it was a variable). Would be great to use as a hook or warm-up before showing actual systems of equations. The problems increase in difficulty.

Experience
I am a math teacher in Texas. The 2023-2024 school year with my 9th year teaching.
Teaching style
I like to use a mix of old-fashioned spiral note-taking and fill-in the blank notes. I like short notes, leaving time for students to practice with collaborative or electronic activities and projects.
