I am currently a 7th-grade science teacher! This is my 4th year teaching 7th grade science and I have 1 year of experience teaching high school chemistry. I have taught in New York and I am currently in South Carolina.
This activity is focused on the classification of elements. Slide 2+3: Provides information about groups, periods, and metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. Slide 4: Identify the classification of elements Slide 5: Identifies the properties of each classification + definitions Slide 6: Match the properties to the correct classification Slide 7-10: Reading element tile practice and classification of the elements.
In this activity, students will identify the parts and functions of the muscular and skeletal systems. One slide covers involuntary vs voluntary muscles. On slides 5 + 6, students will analyze 2 articles and answer questions about the muscular and skeletal systems.
In this valence electrons practice activity, students will identify and model the subatomic particles of elements and their valence electrons. The slides include examples and 8 practice problems. This should take about 20 minutes. This works well as independent activity or whole class instruction. If you plan on doing this as an independent activity, I would suggest doing the first two practice problems together. Can be modified to add more challenging elements.
