Number lines are hard! This is why this year I created (and successfully used) this resource to help my students. Each day includes content and language objective, warm-up, daily review, teacher model, guided practice, independent practice, and exit ticket with a kid friendly rubric. This is an introduction to finding the missing number in an unknown equation, common core standard 1.oa.8. There is a slide with a content and language objective, an introduction with a high interest sports problem with tens frame and movable clipart to find the missing number of players on a field (you can solve it right on the google slides). Following 3 sports problems are a gradual release of missing number equations with a part-part-whole organizer.

There are 8 different high interest picture graphs. Three of the graphs ask, " What does the data tell you about their favorite games? Give at least two facts about the data."Five of the graphs have the above open ended question as well as an additional two questions asking about "how many more".
