About the store
I'm Summer Van, a Middle school Art teacher by CHOICE. My middle school art experience was less than desirable. Most of the projects I was assigned during that time were the dreaded "busy work". As unfortunate as this was for me at the time, it shaped me into the art teacher I am today. I became an art teacher to make sure students have a GREAT art-making experience. I've worked with students ages 7-18 both in the public schools, homeschools, and in summertime art camps. My art curriculum and activities are designed so that EVERY student (regardless of artist "ability") can feel successful. Students will find success by gaining new art-making skills, and allowing room to exploring their unique art styles and ideas. I pride myself on building future artists' skills, while also providing fun unique worksheets and assignments to practice those skills. (Trying to avoid the "Busy Work" .) All of my worksheets and assignments are designed and hand-drawn. Creating the worksheets and assignments was a creative outlet for me and allowed me to showcase my creative endeavors to my students (and hopefully you too). All of my lessons and activities have been thoroughly tested on my students. When I've asked students: "Which project was your favorite?", they always have a tough time picking.

SPACE "Explosion"- 1 Point Perspective coloring page/ buffer activity

FREE RESOURCE. Use in your classrooms or homeschool as you please. Great for a child interested in space, use as a "fast finisher"/buffer activity, or leisurely coloring. HOW I USED IT: I created this SPACE "Explosion" as a demo piece in my Lesson Plan "1-point perspective". (link to lesson plan coming soon). Students who finished their assignment early were to color my SPACE "Explosion" drawing (or work on another fast finisher) until theclass was ready to move on. Be sure to check out my

Teaching style

My teaching style is very hybrid. One learning/teaching technique doesn't suit all students or even one project. For my lessons, I usually use the following techniques: Demonstrator- Great for showing students HOW to create a piece of art Kinesthetic- students practice with "hands on" activities for experience Authority/Lecturer- Small 15-20 min lectures and guided notes Collaborative: students work together to solve problems Guided Discovery: Questions or problems students have to come up with an answer for.
