These documents are intended to help you get started with a Student Council organization at your school. It includes the paperwork (information sheets, permission slips, guidelines, ballots, etc.) that I use for the students in my school. This could easily be adapted to use for an elementary school or a high school.

This document contains eight charts with information to be filled in about the 50 states. This can be used in a variety of ways to address social studies topics and even science topics. Use it as weekly homework that is then discussed in class, as a group project culminating with the class making a book about the states, or as an in class assignment for the computer lab. This Reader's Theater, Read Aloud Skit is perfect for Student Council or a group that is doing a food drive. Have your students perform the skit and then tape it for an easy way to show it to your whole school.

This presidential project is geared for upper elementary, primarily fifth grade but can be adapted as necessary for other grades that teach the presidents. It includes the directions for the project, including the directions for the written report and a presentation for dressing as the president. Includes rubrics for each aspect of the the report as well as various other documents that guide the students through the project.

These documents include a strategy I call The Runner Strategy to teach students how to answer multiple choice questions, specifically on standardized tests. Included is an introduction to what the strategy is and how it should be used, a flyer for student use, and bookmarks for student use. Could easily be adapted for other testing subject areas.

This activity for upper elementary will help students learn about the three branches of government. It can be used with a website about the Branches of Government or can be adapted to be used with any other resources you have that teach about government.
