Teaching style

My teaching style centers on reflection, clarity, and student ownership. I believe: Students learn best when expectations are clear. Growth happens when we reflect honestly. Strong teaching is intentional, not accidental. Rigor and empathy can coexist. In my classroom, I focus on engagement, accountability, and creating an environment where students feel challenged and supported. That same philosophy guides the resources I create for teachers structured, practical, and realistic for busy professionals.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Becoming a National Board Certified Teacher is one of my proudest professional accomplishments. The process required perseverance, vulnerability, and deep analysis of my instructional practice. I have been named Teacher of the Year 2025-2026 Beyond certification, my most meaningful “awards” are the moments when: Students recognize their own growth Colleagues seek mentorship and support Teachers tell me a resource helped them feel less overwhelmed I get selected by students to read names at graduation each year My goal is not just to teach but to empower other educators to see their own expertise and impact.

My own education history

I hold a degree in history, a master’s degree in history, and a master’s degree in physical health and education, and I have continued my professional development through advanced coursework, leadership opportunities, and the rigorous National Board Certification process. I believe great teachers remain learners. My commitment to continuous growth is what inspired me to create resources that support other educators striving for excellence.

Additional biographical information

I am married with two teenage boys who are very active in soccer. I love running and lifting weights, and I am sometimes known as the “crazy cat lady.” When I’m not teaching, you can find me reading just about any book I can get my hands on, watching shows on streaming services, and wholeheartedly supporting my students and peers. In addition to teaching high school, I also teach history at a community college.
