As a student I disliked math and struggled with learning new concepts. When I found myself teaching math in a middle school classroom 11 years ago, I made it a mission to make math class a place students liked to go, even if they didn't like the content! If there is a fun way to do math, I'm going to work to find it.

Are you looking for a unique way to get to know your students the first week of school? This "Figure Me Out" activity is perfect for most grades levels and is low floor activity. Students can use the knowledge they have about math, to share information about them. This activity is non-threatening, as students choose the topics to share and it can be general or personal. It can easily lead to a community building activity as you can "Guess who has..." in future days. Students love learning
