This is a handout I give to teachers and parents frequently to encourage talking to children and to promote language development in children. It is a quick and easy resource to keep on hand when anyone is looking for suggestions on how to increase language.

These checklists were created to gain an overview of a student's speech and language skills in comparison to Missouri's learning standards specific to speech and language skills. They can provide valuable information for both regular and special educators regarding a student's language deficits. They can be used for gathering screening information or monitoring student progress. These checklists are also helpful when writing IEP goals. There is one sheet for each grade level K - 5.
