Present students with a NOAA map of historical tornado activity by state. High tornado traffic states are presented in a bar graph. Students record the data from the bar graph using tally marks. State shapes are not labeled. Build in geography skills by having students label the states that correspond with the data. Go beyond the worksheet using the NOAA map to have students create their own bar graphs for other popular tornado paths in states such as NB, AR, LA, and SD.
Extend the fun of Halloween by creating visuals of the loot. Students tally and total by candy and type. Each student can enter data and charts will automatically update for visualization. See what Excel can do!
