Greek Mythology comes alive when students work through the Graphic Novel of The Lightning Thief. I originally created this unit for my 7th grade ELD class, but the students in my mainstream ELA-7 course love it too! The handouts are easy to follow as we navigate through the Graphic Novel. I've taught high school ELA for two decades. I have a knack for making difficult texts accessible to students of ALL levels, and for getting reluctant learners engaged in a lesson. One huge piece of how I do both of these things in the classroom is the physical curriculum I build.

Teaching style

What's good for struggling and reluctant learners is good for ALL learners. Throughout most of my career, I taught the Reading Intervention courses, mainstream ELA, and honors classes, all throughout the same day. I decided to finally share what has worked with my students.
