Welcome to Nature & Knowledge! My name is Sydney Vanier, and I have worked in the school system for the past five years, with three years of teaching experience. I began my career teaching all subjects in a combined 5th/6th-grade classroom in rural Vermont, and I now teach 5th-grade science and social studies. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that learning should be both engaging and calming, giving students space to think, explore, and grow. I strive to connect my students to the world around themâwhether thatâs through hands-on science investigations, exploring local history, or drawing inspiration from the outdoors. I believe that nature offers endless opportunities for discovery, creativity, and problem-solving, and I aim to foster a deep appreciation for it alongside strong academic skills. My goal is to help students not only gain knowledge but also develop curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
