Stock Market Portfolio Tracking Spreadsheet

This document is an Excel spreadsheet which has already been formulated for students to use as part of a Stock Market unit. As students research and track their stocks, they will enter their data into the spreadsheet and their profit/loss will be automatically calculated along with a graph for students to analyze their results.

Mean Median Mode Range with Outliers

This PowerPoint Presentation was made for my Pre-Algebra class, but can easily be adapted for lower grades. The lesson teaches students how to solve for mean, median, mode and range along with how to identify outliers within a set of data (as well as their effects on a data set). Through analytical thinking, students can decipher how to find the measure of central tendency (which average best describes the data set). This presentation has 50 slides with lots of examples and practice problems.

Stock Market Challenge Information Sheet

This document provides students a place to record the information they have gathered from their Stock Market research. It includes a place for students to record their stocks' 52-week high and low, dividends paid, does the company produce goods or provide services, as well as the reasoning as to why your student chose to purchase that particular stock. There are enough recording sheets for 5 stocks. This is a great way to teach students how to record and organize information for later use. If

Teaching style

I am a no nonsense hands-on educator. I enjoy challenging students to think outside of the box in order to solve real-world problems. Being a certified eMINTS educator has allowed me to better incorporate differentiated instruction to my students while challenging them to become self-directed learners. I love technology and I incorporate it into my lessons as often as possible. Inquiry-based learning, allows students to become more self confident with their problem solving abilities and promotes tolerance of others' ideas and capabilties.
