Considered Canada's first Christmas Carol, the melody of the Huron Carol is an excellent piece for introducing or reviewing aeolian mode on barred Orff instruments and for discussing early Canadian music and early Canadians. The melody can be easily sung or performed on a soprano/tenor recorder. The piece lends itself well to creative movement. Note that the title of the score says La Pentatonic. This is the traditional Newfoundland song "I's the B'y" arranged for Orff Instruments. Contains the words to the first verse and the refrain. A short arrangement of Humpty Dumpty that includes an original rhythm and melody as well as accompaniment parts written in the Do Pentatonic mode. Includes a section for composing original words. Can also be used with soprano/tenor recorders. Can be easily scaled in difficulty for multiple grades (between grades 1-4).
This is an arrangement for Orff diatonic instruments that incorporates the B-flat and B-natural bars to achieve the secondary dominant chord found in the chorus of Jingle Bells. Suggestions for augmenting the arrangement are provided. The parts are written for ease of playing, and include a range of complexity to accommodate a diverse set of student abilities.
