About the store

Experience

I've worked as an educator for more than twenty years at my same beloved diverse Title One school in California. I've worked with countless beginning and intern teachers and for the past ten years I've worked as a lecturer at a nearby state university in the Teacher Education Department.

Teaching style

I always tell my students that my job is to make content "easy" and understandable for all of them. This has become a new challenge as our district and state adopts National Common Core Standards. I struggle to differentiate and support English Language Learners in my lessons, but mostly, I'm working hard to avoid any whiplash from the many initiatives each new school year. I suppose I'm still learning...and that's why I love teaching!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I am a National Board Certified teacher and former city Teacher of the Year.

My own education history

Baccalaureate of Arts in English, Masters degree in Education
