About the store

Experience

I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I began my career working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, and I now teach at-risk high school students. My focus is on practical, supportive instruction that builds confidence and real-world skills.

Teaching style

My teaching style is grounded in Understanding by Design (UbD)—I start with the end goal in mind and build lessons that clearly connect skills to real outcomes. I use hands-on, multi-modal learning (visuals, modeling, guided practice, discussion, and real-world tasks) to meet students where they are and help them succeed. My goal is always the same: make learning accessible, engaging, and meaningful.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the years, I’ve been honored to earn several awards and grants, but my greatest “shining teacher moments” aren’t trophies—they’re students. Nothing compares to watching a student graduate when so many people doubted they would. That look of accomplishment on their face is priceless, and it’s exactly why I do what I do.

My own education history

My education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Ashland University and a Master’s degree in Education from Ashland University as a Moderate/Severe Intervention Specialist. I also completed doctoral-level coursework through Walden University and earned my Career-Based Intervention (CBI) certification through Kent State University.
