I have worked in all of the middle school grade levels as a core content teacher, a coteacher, a interventionist, a gifted teacher. In this time, I have learned that everyone learns in a different style, but the one thing that is consistent, is we are able to learn through our connections to other areas of our life.
In the past three years, I have worked with a school that allowed me to be the sole creator of my curriculum. I have developed cross-curricular and cross-domain content for the math classroom based on student feedback. Connecting math to any and all subjects is one of the easier ways to develop an intrinsic interest in math for students. It is my goal that every student sees math in whatever area of study they pursue, and finds that it is much more closer to common sense than it originally leads on.
