About the store
I have worked in all of the middle school grade levels as a core content teacher, a coteacher, a interventionist, a gifted teacher. In this time, I have learned that everyone learns in a different style, but the one thing that is consistent, is we are able to learn through our connections to other areas of our life. In the past three years, I have worked with a school that allowed me to be the sole creator of my curriculum. I have developed cross-curricular and cross-domain content for the math classroom based on student feedback. Connecting math to any and all subjects is one of the easier ways to develop an intrinsic interest in math for students. It is my goal that every student sees math in whatever area of study they pursue, and finds that it is much more closer to common sense than it originally leads on.

Experience

Teaching style

I am a very non-traditional teacher. I view teachers as resources of knowledge, specific to a field, but that they are connectors. Teachers are there to connect the individual ideas everyone has to create a common goal. My classroom focuses on project based learning, collaboration, and student ideas. There is a heavy emphasis on taking down notes in a creative way to encourage students to refer back to and utilize previous learning. Learning does not have to be done in any specific order. Me and my students know, we can't learn from text books anymore, we are already learning from real life, so let's continue to prepare for that.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology. I have taught and tutored math for a collective 6 years. Most of my lessons and projects are heavily rooted in sociological perspective and science to create and facilitate a culturally responsive classroom.
