This set of 18 sorts focuses on the addition strategies: +0, one more, two more, count on, doubles, doubles +1, doubles +2, and find/make 10. There is also a blank template for teacher use.
Students identify and sort strategies into categories. Students may also discover other ways to complete the sorts, which gives opportunities for rich discussions involving computation strategies and patterns in math.

This is what I strive for every day. It's very challenging but when you find 'that way' to help a child make gains- it's all worth it!

The fact that parents put their trust in me to help their child succeed to the best of their ability.

That feeling when a child who has struggled suddenly has the 'light bulb' flash on.
There is nothing more rewarding or more honourable.
My own education history
I was a late starter, enrolling in post secondary when I was 35 years old. I was an Educational Assistant, working with students with special needs. My administrators encouraged me to return to school to become a teacher.
It took some time, but I mustered up the courage to return to University, earned my B.Ed. degree, and began teaching at age 39.
