Notelets

Hello! I am a certified teacher in Texas. I have been teaching secondary science for the past 28 years. I designed The Biology Notelet using Texas STAAR TEKS as my guide. The Biology Notelet is correlated to the newest TEKS and assessment types.

Students should work harder than the teacher. I start strong in the fall to be able to have a great spring where classes are student led as much as possible. I like to do peer grouping and discovery. I like using processes and teaching strategies to help increase mastery of the content. My classroom has structure and consistent classroom management techniques. Each day is a new day. I like to be organized, and am tech savvy. I enjoy helping teachers in the classroom. I am authentic with my students and give honest answers to any questions. I am mindful of student needs. I use humor along with simple analogies to explain complex concepts.

Over the years I have been voted Teacher of the Year, Teacher of the Month, and Favorite Teacher. The real sweetness of teaching doesn’t see many awards. Though rare, the rewards in teaching have been known to be priceless. Teachers can affect generations of people without even being aware.

During the course of my life, I have attended or worked in 28 different schools in 8 different states. I hold a B.S in Biology from Colorado State University and an M. Ed in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M.
