Number Exploration

These balance beams use weights as shapes. Each balance beam and weight equal a different amount. Students use their knowledge of doubles to decompose the total weight into the individual weights.

Students use the concrete models of Cuisenaire Rod to practice subtraction. The sheets are scaled so that the rods fit onto the appropriate color.
