About the store
I taught ten years in the classroom teaching grades 4 through 6. I absolutely loved my job, but I had to say goodbye as I moved back home. I had two dreamy years of substitute teaching in both my hometown and a neighboring city, somewhat at my leisure! I have now been teaching Title I Math in that same neighboring city for grades K-6 since 2014 and I love it!!!

Number Comparison Fluency Triads - 3rd Grade

These worksheets provide extra practice and experience with triads, one portion of the AIMSweb Plus math assessment. I find these helpful, as this skill can be difficult for so many students. There are two worksheets. These are specific to grade 3, but could be used for grade 4 as well.

Saxon Math Grade 3 Practice Tests 13-26 (2nd Semester)

I created these practice tests for my 3rd grade Title math students as a way to prepare for the weekly tests. These could easily be used in the classroom as well. If there is a demand, I will add practice tests for assessments 1-12. At this point, there is no answer key, as I go through the practice tests with my students, writing on my own page as they write on theirs. I can create an answer key if requested. Thank you!

Update: I added weight and distance to this 8.5 x 11 chart. A larger 11 x 17 is available for purchase on my store as well. Original description: I created a handout to be used when comparing and converting customary units of capacity. The visual helps students comprehend the differences in capacity units. This can be used in any grade level that is working with capacity.

Multiplication Array Capture

Students compete with each other by trying to fill in a grid with arrays using this "gameboard", two dice each, and coloring pencils. This could be adapted simply to play over a shared document for distance learning situations.

I Can Write to 1,000

This booklet has students writing numbers to 1,000 at their own pace. I've used this booklet in Title I, but it would be perfect in a first grade classroom. Once my kiddos complete the booklet, they are allowed to get autographs from other teachers and staff who write little messages like "You did it!" or "Way to go" along with their signature. Each page is from 0-100, 101-200, and so on, to 1000. I recommend printing one-sided. The 12th page has left blank for autographs! If you choose n

MTSS Pathways Math & Reading

I created this editable MTSS pathways for my school after looking online for a simple template to use. I wanted a one-page sheet that included both math and reading. This can be edited to use for your school's curriculum, interventions, cut scores/percentiles, and/or benchmark assessment tools.

About the store

Experience

I taught ten years in the classroom teaching grades 4 through 6. I absolutely loved my job, but I had to say goodbye as I moved back home. I had two dreamy years of substitute teaching in both my hometown and a neighboring city, somewhat at my leisure! I have now been teaching Title I Math in that same neighboring city for grades K-6 since 2014 and I love it!!!

Teaching style

I spend some time each week either observing students while working or checking over their classroom work. I determine how best I can help each student by completely individualizing each of their lessons with me. I focus mainly on number sense and operations from basic facts to working with larger numbers and fractions. I like to use manipulatives, lots of repetition, and sometimes refer to my approach as "tweaking"!

Awards & shining teacher moments

My awards come from my students when they share their achievements with me. From counting to 100 for the first time, to finally "getting" regrouping, or passing a test for the first time! My greatest honor is when I am able to "graduate" a student from Title I!

My own education history

I had two amazing math teachers in high school, two teachers that taught so very differently. I'd like to say that I have a little of both of them in my teaching style. One thing that both of them instilled in me is that, with math, neatness is key and precision is a must. I attended Moorhead State University and was the last graduating class of MSU in 2000. After that, the name changed to Minnesota State University-Moorhead (MSUM). I had the most amazing professors in the Elementary Education Program, one being the elementary mathematics professor who taught me to teach math conceptually. She also made us learn to do all four operations using any Base except Base 10. If anything, that made me very aware of how a student feels when they "absolutely do not get it!" Although at the time, I thought she was "off", she was absolutely 100% correct in her approach in teaching us.

Additional biographical information

I have three children, two in high school and one in college. They are my life! My love, Mike, is my rock. I get to call my hometown home, which is such a blessing. My parents, siblings, and a ton of relatives also live their, too! It's a wonderful life!!
