About the store

Experience

I have taught high school mathematics for 10+ years. I have taught many of the courses in our mathematics department including: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, Honors Precalculus BC, Applied Mathematics (Ball State course), Probability and Statistics, Discrete mathematics, Math lab, M211 (IU's Calculus I course), AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC. I started the AP Calculus BC program at the high school at which I teach. I currently teach AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and Honors Precalculus BC.

Teaching style

I run a "flipped" classroom. I lecture infrequently. My students are asked to read their textbook and fill out a note-taking guide of my creation for homework. This introduces them to the concepts. The following day, we discuss what they read and focus on their individual questions regarding the material. At this time, I fill in the gaps and supplement as needed. My goal is to prepare them for the college environment, show them than can take ownership of their learning, and to teach them mathematics. :) I teach in a traditional schedule. I teach six sections of students. I see all six classes each day for approximately 50 minutes. We have two semesters beginning in August and January respectively. We recently switched to the two-week Fall Break and Spring Break calendar.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some... but they are not important.

My own education history

I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics from Purdue (Indianapolis) in 2003 and earned my M.S. in Mathematics from Purdue (Indianapolis) in 2010.
