About the store
I am recently retired after 29 years in education. I began teaching high school students who had severe emotional issues. Over the years I taught students with a variety of disabilities at a wide range of grade levels - pre-kindergarten through high school in regular and special needs classes. My last ten years in the classroom were with pre-kindergarten children. I absolutely love that age! Then I moved on to administration - for ten years I wrote and administered grants and even taught teachers to apply for them. I also directed the pre-kindergarten program and federal programs.

Experience

I am recently retired after 29 years in education. I began teaching high school students who had severe emotional issues. Over the years I taught students with a variety of disabilities at a wide range of grade levels - pre-kindergarten through high school in regular and special needs classes. My last ten years in the classroom were with pre-kindergarten children. I absolutely love that age! Then I moved on to administration - for ten years I wrote and administered grants and even taught teachers to apply for them. I also directed the pre-kindergarten program and federal programs.

Teaching style

As a teacher, especially when working with young children and those with special needs, I always tried to make the lessons so appealing that the "reward" was participating with the class. I also feel that it is important to teach children - right where they are academically and socially, no matter what their grade level. Grant Writing - I begin the process with a real need, not a good idea, a wish for something, or a application that is available. Beginning with this need, I work to find the best funding source and develop a complete proposal for them. I teach teachers this process, so they can apply for grants on their own. I enjoy watching them learn and accomplish new things as much as I did young children.
