Experience

Teaching style

With years of experience in education, I’ve learned that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Instead, I focus on building strong relationships with my students from the start. My philosophy is simple: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” This belief drives me to create engaging, relevant resources that connect science to the real world. Whether it’s through YouTube videos that demonstrate classroom concepts in action or tying challenging topics to pop culture, I strive to show students that science is everywhere. For me, a successful classroom isn’t defined by lectures or endless worksheets—it’s defined by students who are willing to learn because they respect their teacher and can feel their passion for the subject.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Since 2017, I have been dedicated to empowering students through engaging and student-centered science education. My focus has always been on building strong relationships with students, fostering a classroom environment where they feel respected and inspired to learn. I have mentored students toward academic success, including guiding multiple students to CLEP out of introductory chemistry classes at the University of Oklahoma and helping one achieve a top-3 placement in collegiate chemistry at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Alongside my commitment to students, I have grown professionally by leading curriculum innovations, facilitating professional development workshops, and collaborating with peers to enhance instructional strategies. Additionally, I’ve secured over $15,000 in grant funding to establish a fully operational chemistry lab, enhancing hands-on learning experiences. My efforts have been recognized with multiple Teacher of the Year nominations, reflecting my passion for student success, professional excellence, and meaningful contributions to education.

My own education history

M.Ed. in Educational Leadership – Southeastern Oklahoma State University, 2022 MBA in Strategic Communication – Southeastern Oklahoma State University, 2019 B.S. in Chemistry and Biology (Interdisciplinary Double Major) – Southeastern Oklahoma State University, 2017

Additional biographical information

My passion for teaching stems from my own academic journey. In high school, I lacked access to quality chemistry materials and an inspiring teacher, which left me unprepared when I entered college as a chemistry major. I spent my freshman year teaching myself the basics just to keep up, which impacted my grades and set me on a path of constantly playing catch-up throughout my college career. This experience shaped my commitment to ensuring that high school students have the resources and support they need to enter college on equal footing. I don’t want students to struggle as I did—I want them to focus on excelling academically, preparing for graduate school, and building successful careers. On a personal note, I am married and have a son who was born in 2023. My family inspires me every day to continue creating resources that not only help educators and students but also provide a sustainable future for my loved ones. OMg Science is more than just a business; it’s a reflection of my dedication to improving science education and empowering the next generation of learners.
