Transformations (Rigid Motions) Performance Task Art Project Students will perform transformations to create a quilt square in one quadrant of the graph. Then they will reflect and rotate that quadrant to complete the quilt throughout the entire coordinate plane. Can be differentiated to increase rigor, used as an assessment, extra credit etc.

Congruent Triangle Performance task! Students will use geometric construction tools to design a logo for a company that has congruent triangles in it. You can have them redesign a current company logo or come up with a company and logo themselves! The task starts with students using constructions to explore why SSS and SAS result in congruent triangles but SSA or AAA do not. Students will create a city map by following requirements for roads and buildings. Requirements include parallel and perpendicular lines, a transversal, and transversal angle relationships. The students will write the equation of each road they create then add buildings to represent the angle relationships. This activity can be scaffolded by providing a street line equation as a starting point. This includes an extended edition that incorporates midpoint and distance!

Graphing Performance Task Tier Rankings are all over social media right now! Kids are loving to rank and discuss their opinions in "tier lists". This task has students make a tier list and present it on a coordinate plane. Use this as an intro to graphing, review of graphing, or a "Get to Know You" back to school activity. This is a "they don't even know they're doing math" activity!

Students will practice finding the area and perimeter of shapes while designing a backyard landscape on graph paper (not included). The project can also be completed virtually using a graphing software. You can increase the rigor by requiring the shapes to have sides that do not fall on the coordinate plane and require students to use the distance formula or Pythagorean Theorem.

This is a simple "get to know you" activity for the start of the school year. It can be done in any content classroom. The students are asked to provide 20 things about themselves through 4 different categories. They are also instructed to take a Myers-Briggs personality test and provide things about themselves from that. There is an optional presentation rubric included! Great first day activity for any classroom.
