Math Word Problem Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer will allow students to break down math word problems into manageable parts and show their work in multiple ways. This organizer is great practice for SBAC, and I use it to assign my students a Weekly Word Problem each week.

While reading Bartholomew and the Ooblek by Dr. Seuss, have each student complete this activities book to practice skills such as setting, character traits, sequencing, and creative writing. The pages can be printed double sided in order, then just fold and staple and you have your book!

Compare and Contrast Characters Lesson
This direct instruction lesson will increase students ability to compare and contrast two or more characters from a story using a Venn Diagram. The lesson is ideal for 5th grade, but can be used for 3rd and 4th as well. The lesson is complete with attachments, read it over, print, and go!

Experience
I have taught full years of 3rd grade and will be teaching 5th grade this coming year. I teach at a Title I dependent charter school in LAUSD that focuses on STEAM education. I have a MA in Education from USC.
Teaching style
My teaching style is very student centered. I cater to my students by 1) scaffolding instruction to meet the different needs of my students and 2) using content that they are curious about. The Common Core State Standards require students to have certain skills and perform certain tasks, but it doesn't specify how students need to get there. Therefore, I find resources that my students are interested in to teach them reading skills or to have them solve word problems about. Let's make learning fun and relevant for students!
