Welcome to Packets Plans and Practice. My name is Racquel, and I tutor kids in the metro Detroit area. I started tutoring heavily during the pandemic when lots of students were falling behind due to the lack of in-person learning. My experience in teaching started senior year of high school as an assistant for Spanish 1 class. After high school, I was added to the district tutoring list and have helped dozens of students with private lessons.

About the store

Experience

Welcome to Packets Plans and Practice. My name is Racquel, and I tutor kids in the metro Detroit area. I started tutoring heavily during the pandemic when lots of students were falling behind due to the lack of in-person learning. My experience in teaching started senior year of high school as an assistant for Spanish 1 class. After high school, I was added to the district tutoring list and have helped dozens of students with private lessons.

Teaching style

I have taught kids ranging from as young as kindergarten to as old as senior year. I pull many of my teaching methods from my own experience as a student including my time in 7 AP classes. I specialize in science (chemistry), math (geometry, algebra, trigonometry), and Spanish (intro to AP). I try to match the pace of my students. Patience and consistency are key to success.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have received the Michigan Comp Scholarship during my time in college. I also received a Blue-Ribbon award for excellence in undergraduate research and for maintaining a scientific mindset. I try to instill this problem-solving ability into my students as well. One of my most rewarding moments was helping a student get through high school during COVID and graduating on time despite multiple family losses. Building lasting relationship with my students is most important. It has also been most rewarding seeing the quick progress in kids going from C's to B's to A's on exams.

My own education history

I graduated 4th out of 250 in my high school class and attended the University of Michigan Ann Arbor majoring in Pharmaceutical Sciences. I graduated undergrad in 2022, and I am currently going back for my master's in chemistry.
