This letter gives parents concrete steps to assist struggling readers at home. Ideally, it is used as a take-away after a conference, as part of a coordinated reading intervention.
The letter spells out in detail how to assist struggling readers. The information is presented in a very straightforward manner, without jargon.
The document sets a serious tone, and closes with a brief reminder of the urgency of bringing struggling readers closer to grade level.
