The letter spells out in detail how to assist struggling readers. The information is presented in a very straightforward manner, without jargon.
The document sets a serious tone, and closes with a brief reminder of the urgency of bringing struggling readers closer to grade level.
Students are given a table of authentic data to use in making a purchasing decision. They must build bar graphs and a double-bar graph to compare the data.
Students must analyze the data in relation to given purchasing criteria, and recommend a purchase.
