An activity to help get the concept of area by having students estimate the area of a variety of shapes, some of which formulas exist for and some which are very irregular. I use it as an intro to an area unit. Both an editable docx and a pdf are included.

Designed as a mental math practice on adding whole numbers, concept is that students answer as many questions as they can in a time limit, questions become more challenging as they progress.
