Introduction to Flight

This interactive PowerPoint is a great resource for anyone teaching a unit on Flight. It was designed primarily for my Grade 6 students, but can be used for anyone wanting to teach the fundamentals of flight (i.e. Four forces, the Bernoulli Principle, a brief biography about the Wright Brothers and Amelia Earhart, as well as the comparison of how birds and insects fly). Overall, students thoroughly enjoyed this presentation and were fascinated with the material covered. Highly recommend!

Teaching style

I put emphasis on collaborative learning done in small groups of 4-5 students. This allows for self-regulated learning as well as communication between peers. The classroom must be one that is inclusive and safe for all students to share their ideas and opinions with the rest of the class. I am someone who acts as a facilitator, teaching students through inquiry-based projects and guided instruction. I find students learn best through problem-based learning with multiple entry points for learner's of all abilities.

My own education history

I graduated McMaster University in 2013 with a B.A. Honours in English and Religious Studies, and a minor in Sociology. I then attended teacher's college at the University of Western Ontario. I graduated in 2014 with a BEd.
