End of the Year Checklist EDITABLE
I use a list to cross off what needs to be done as we clean up for the end of the year. I found it is easier to get students' help by asking them to come to you in pairs and giving them a job, while the rest of the class works on an activity at their seat. Make learning math fun with a projector and a flyswatter!
Materials needed: 2 flyswatters or something similar to whack with.
Calling students up in pairs, or while working in a small group, the teacher or another student calls out the answer to a multiplication problem on the chosen facts screen. Experience
I have taught third grade for three years at a Catholic school in Michigan. I teach all-subjects, as well as religion and cursive handwriting.
Teaching style
I like to pull my students' outside worlds into my classroom as well as give them many choices in their learning. Every morning I have a meeting with my students about the day and we greet each other in different ways, as well as share an answer to a question I pose to get to know each other better and build a sense of community with each other. I make sure expectations are clear on what they need to learn in order to achieve, providing rubrics and study guides almost all of the time. I love allowing them to work with partners and in groups, as I believe many skills are learned in these settings. I am constantly making sure they are learning or doing something in my classroom.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I graduated with Summa Cum Laude for Undergraduate Honors and was on the Deans List from Fall 2009 to Spring 2013. I also received a full-ride scholarship to attend school at West Virginia University for gymnastics.
My own education history
I went through the 5-Year Masters Teacher Education Program at West Virginia University, graduating in Spring of 2014 with my M.A. in Elementary Education. I had over 1,000 hours of student teaching in classrooms, as well as subbing for one semester, getting experiences in grades K-7 during my time there.
