The goal is for students to work collaboratively in small groups to discuss and design mini-posters that display the 21st century skills needed for a successful math classroom. Ideal for a start of the year activity.
The intent is for students to create the class rules rather than the teacher.
Provide groups of students (2 - 3 students) with one of the task cards. Each group has the task of creating a mini-poster according to the described task.
The simple prompts can be used by teachers to support lesson instruction, and as a resource for students. Display the prompts for students to utilize as a resource when working collaboratively or during direct instruction. Provide copies for students to add to their notebooks as a resource. Laminate and display some or all of the prompts to use with other mathematics lessons.
